KURAR | DEDICATED CORNER

kurar expo.jpg

NextStreet Gallery is proud to present an art show that captures an integral part of our modern moment: Urban Show. This exhibition highlights the work of KURAR . It's an intimate presentation at the 2ed floor of the gallery with a selective selection of pieces.

KURAR grew up in a fast-changing world which continues to inspire his work. He takes a critical look at the failings of a society that cannot help but grow exponentially, resulting in an accelerated strain between the social and political aspects of society.

KURAR engages with the irreversable globalization of our society by meticulously dissecting an ever-intensifying stream of information that enriches our daily lives.

His theory revolves around the idea that we have to know where we come from, in order to guide our futures. He uses images of childhood to contrast the crude images of the present; things that were inconceivable only 100 years ago. He questions whether our generation is subdued by the injustices we can no longer resolve, or by the narrow scope of what we define as perfection.

Kurar shows us a way out. A route where we might reclaim our downfall by understanding why we are situated in this moment. He proposes reflection is the solution; and that the freedom to dream exists no matter what… it is from these very dreams we can change our world.

The world that existed a century ago is no more. What will it look like in a hundred years? KURAR gives us a direction, it is up to us to make it a path.

Modus Art Gallery at the 17th edition of SCOPE Miami Beach

More than 140 galleries of contemporary art from 25 countries and 60 cities met in December in Miami (USA) to participate in a very prestigious contemporary art fair: SCOPE MIAMI BEACH. As in previous years, the Modus Art Gallery booth had an outstanding success and aroused a lot of interest  for art collectors from around the world.

Reunions with our artists (Isabelle Scheltjens, Stikki Peaches, Juan Miguel Palacios, Joshua-Jensen Nagle, My Dog Sighs), meetings with art lovers and exchanges on current events in the artistic world: the work of the Modus Art Gallery team was very rich in event.

It was a valuable experience full of amazing memories and we would be delighted to extend it with you at 23 Place de Vosges, Paris !

JUAN MIGUEL PALACIOS @ MODUS GALLERY

JUAN MIGUEL PALACIOS @ MODUS GALLERY

Juan Miguel Palacios' journey started at the School of Decorative Arts of Madrid which gained him the opportunity to join the studio of renowned Spanish artist Amadeo Roca Gisbert for six years. These years were cruicial for Palacios' artistic flair and this training is visible in every artwork he creates.

Concepts such as mourning, restlessness and inequality are vital in Palacios' work as they allow him to explore a range of human emotions. His powerful and modern techniques involve almost abstract brushtrokes and a strong use of colour to create a feeling of decay and abandonment.

Driven by his search for new forms of expression, Juan Miguel Palacios created series such as Wounded, where the artist has used broken walls as the surface for his works. This technique has created an extra dimension in his work which he allows the viewer to dissect. His works blend reality with dreamlike worlds, with his subjects seeming to escape their two-dimensional invisible cages and become tangible parts of reality.

Canvas, vinyl, meth-acrylate, aluminium and drywall surfaces are where Juan Miguel Palacios presents his work.

PREFAB 77 @MODUS GALLERY

Prefab77 is an artist who has origins in the north of England, California and New York.

Creating, hard edged and stripped down artwork that is often political, sometimes anti-establishment, but always beautiful he weaves small pieces of modern popular culture, pure rock and rebellion reflecting on the passing of our familiar institutions, shadowy establishment on the take and take small bites out of the underbelly of our modern culture that gets more bizarre with each passing day.

It is a dark word of money, fashion, music and politics woven into a luxurious mixture of acrylic, spraypaint, wheatpaste and varnish. He is the Gentle Young Giant.

Welcome to Javier Léon Perez @ Modus Art Gallery

Welcome to Javier Léon Perez @ Modus Art Gallery

javier-leon-modus-gallery

We are delighted to introduce you our new Artist! Javier Léon Perez from Spain!

Javier’s monochromatic abstract landscapes undulate with rhizomatic movement. In his three-dimensional works, small elements of carefully folded Japanese paper interweave with each other tracing a dance, drawing the viewer into a parallel reality. As with poetry, the message is implicit, it points to a new place that opens up new possibilities.

In his paintings, drawings and sculptural paper works, the almost obsessive detailed process, and eternal repetition of small elements that cover the surface, acts as a mantra, a sacred formula and deeply personal ritual for the artist. For the viewer, the first impact of the powerful colours or monochromatic pallet combined with the tactile oil, graphite or ink textures slowly move into a full aesthetic sensory experience. The eyes explore the surface and discover differences in density, quantity, as well as the games of light and shadow

Modus Art Gallery on Culture Trip | We are a must-visit !

We are consider among the 10 Must-Visit Independent Art Galleries in Paris ;-) Check out this article on Culture Trip!

"Set in the oldest planned square in Paris, Place de Vosges, this often-overlooked gallery describes its vision as a reference point for both contemporary and modern art in the Marais district. It would, however, be valid to say that their influence should be felt further afield. The collections at Modus are singular and unique, showcasing a range of styles, media, and talents. This eclecticism is driven by the gallery’s notable presence at global art fairs, inspired by France’s long artistic legacy."
